Recently, we’ve been getting more and more features available in the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights Journeys app (formerly Marketing). We’re still waiting for quite a few updates, but there are other ways to simplify your work in the marketing app.
To avoid having to click through marketing form records several times a day to find out how many people registered for our event, filled out the lead registration form, etc., today we’ll create a view based on custom calculated fields in the “Marketing Forms” entity.
First, create a calculated field of type “Summary” in the “Marketing Forms” entity (msdynmkt_marketingform). The fields in the “Source entity” section will be filled in automatically. In the related entity, select the “Form Submissions” option. Then add a filter with the condition “if submission status = success.” Finally, add aggregations for the “Form Submission Calculation” field. Save the changes and close the calculation window.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that bulk calculations for report fields are automatically refreshed by the system every 12 or 24 hours. To change the refresh schedule, follow these steps: Advanced Settings -> System Processes -> filter all processes by report calculation type -> locate the refresh process for marketing form entities.

After selecting the process you found, an editing window will open. In this window, you can manually start the process (Resume) or modify its execution schedule (Modify Recurrence). Only users with administrator privileges can perform this action.

Once the entire time configuration has been set up, the user can create or edit a view of marketing form entities by adding the calculated columns created earlier. Then, after publishing all view customizations, the user will be able to see all marketing form submissions from the view when they navigate to it.

This is certainly a very useful feature for people who are processing several submission forms at once for events, meetings, leads, etc. The quick setup—while perhaps not a huge change—will definitely make interacting with marketing forms more enjoyable and make it easier to see how many people have interacted with a form.
Thank you very much, and I invite you to follow our DynamicsBlog by Intersys to stay up to date on all the latest news and interesting facts from the world of Dynamics 365. See you soon!
